The Waterhole Series
Traditional Aboriginal people who live on their native title land know where all the waterholes are in their ‘Country’. As part of their cultural responsibilities, they aim to protect the quality of the surrounding environment, to maintain their natural beauty and ‘care for country’ by monitoring the waterholes, the wildlife, the flora and the fauna. In the dryer regions, ‘digging sticks’ are used to bring the water to the surface, in other areas, the water runs freely into small ponds and pools, forming the ‘waterholes’.
